Prickley Pineapple

This is my latest project. It is the class I took last night. On the table are 4 blocks.  Each block has 27 pieces!! The finished project will have 36 blocks. Or a few coasters! I figure if I do 3 a day I'll have them all finished by next class on April 11.

I bought a strip set which included most of the lights and darks.  The strips came 2.5" wide. We are working with strips that are 1.5 and 1" wide. So I only had to cut each strip once. Don't you love the use of the pasta dryer?

Look at all the Chihully Challenge quilts.

We each had the same photo and instructions to reproduce as we saw fit. Then we share the completed ones today. THEN we cut up each little quilt into 4 pieces, kept one of our own and randomly drew out the other 3 pieces. Our task will be to put the 4 pieces together and show our results next fall.

Chihully Challenge

This challenge was to reproduce a photo from the Dale Chihully exhibit at the Desert Botanical Gardens. The photo is of an old row boat full of glass balls. Red glass pieces were hung from the cacti in the background. My background consists a "chenille like" set of layers. The bottom layer is red fabric and it peeks through like the red glass did at the exhibit.

Ticker Tape

On Wednesday our Neighborhood Bee worked on making Ticker Tape blocks. I'm going to make a steering wheel cover from mine. My steering wheel measures about 15". I used an 18" circle and fused some flannel to the back of the circle. I will stitch around each little piece, probably with a zig zag stitch, then put it together.

I'm going to try to put in a link to the Picasa album that has the rest of the pictures from our group...

We spent two hours today laying out Ruth's quilt.
